My first Pentax slr was a P30 that I bought at a car boot and it is still going strong after 20 years. But I have recently bought a Pentax ME super and find it even better. Smaller, lighter and more choice on the speeds. Also fast sync speed with flash. I also like that if the batteries run out you can still use it at a decent speed. It makes for a very compact easy to use strongly built slr for us that still like to use film. I did buy a second but only because of the lens and have decided to sell 1 of them as a body only. The problem is that both are in excellent condition so it is difficult to decide which is the best to keep. I have heard there is sometimes a problem with a loose winder so I've checked both for that but still no luck in helping me decide. They just made the things too good. I may end up keeping it for a spare. Also I have heard that with a camera this age and me not knowing their history it would be a good idea to get a set of new seals for them so I have ordered them just to keep in case needed, but from what I've seen they look to be still in good condition too.I wonder why they bothered making other cheaper made less reliable models after the ME Super. But then again, I'm still keeping my eyes open for a reasonably priced MX or better still a LX, but the LX are still a bit too pricey. OH Well!Vollständige Rezension lesen
This was a high spec camera in its day and is a good step up from the entry level film cameras available today. I had my model serviced by a professional technician (see the wee camera shop at the top of Morningside Road in Edinburgh) and it is as good as new. It is manual but has an electronic system that allows aperture led auto exposures, and it opens up the world of amazing Pentax K lenses, although the standard Pentax lens that came with it is perfect for 90% of photos anyway. I can paraphrase Ken Rockwell with this one: it doesn't get in the way of taking a good picture. This has become my main camera. I don't really need anything else.

Lovely camera. Bought as a gift for my partner and he loves it, having done some research he thinks it is one of the best entry level cameras for someone looking to take up photography. Due to age the camera wasn’t shooting on every release when it first arrived, but I solved this by winding the crank and shooting for a few minutes till it corrected itself. The camera is a good size and very sturdy and easy to use. Very please.

Remeber this is from the early 1980's, Super fun, dead easy to use with aperture priority. Nice camera, proper styling and very tactile. easy to use, I bought this for my 10 year old to get him interested in film photography, he loves it. Well featured and with loads of lenses including 3rd party. This is wonderful to use and hold built very well with a classic SLR layout and design. Amazing shooting for very little money.
Over the years, I've used just about every make of SIR camera, and I still own quite a few. Canon FTBQL, Nikon FM, Minolta SRT, Pentax K1000, Chinon CS, Yashica FX2, and a couple of Practicas. They are all very good cameras, and I enjoy running a film through them every now and then. All have their own little quirks and idiosyncrasies, but there is one for me that I enjoy using above all of them, and that is the Pentax ME super. To me it is as close to perfect as a camera could be. It's small and extremely light, which suits me as I have quite small hands, it's so easy to handle switching between manual, and aperture priority mode which is excellent for street photography. The shutter when tripped, makes a lovely CLACK sound and you can carry it around all day and hardly notice it's there because it's so light! The standard 50mm 1.7 lens is as good a lens as you get for the price, and produces excellent results, even wide open. If you are just starting out in film photography, then IMHO, this is the best camera you can get for a reasonable price! Just make sure to pay a little more for a model that has been serviced or recently overhauled, trust me it's worth paying the extra as it will give years of first rate service and pleasure. I own three, and cannot recommend it enough.Vollständige Rezension lesen
