Douglas Kennedy has once more proved that he is an excellent writer, astonishing above all how he is able to look into female souls. I became a fan of Kennedy's novels the other way round, i.e. my first book was Temptation (his most recent) and then I read one after another from his older ones. State of the Union is a book about America in the Sixties where young people rebelled against the parents and their conservative rules, but not Hannah - the main person in this book. She is getting along all very conservative, marrying her doctor boyfriend and raising a family in a small town in Maine. But then boredom sets in and a moment of personal rebellion changes everything, especially as Hannah is breaking the law. For decades this secret remains buried, but then in an America after 9/11, suddenly her life goes into freefall. A very moving and page-turning novel, you will love it! And not only this one by Douglas Kennedy!Vollständige Rezension lesen
