I saw this camera on ebay for the first time, because shop-windows are not exactly full of Pentaxes. It looked like it was worth looking for. That's what I did and I liked its looks so much that I bought it. And so far I have no reason to regret the purchase. Owing to its metal frame there is an overall feeling of good quality. I still haven't thrown it into the water, but body and lens are said to be waterproof, which is a nice feature. I used the Pentax at a niece's wedding and the photos came out just fine (although I used the automatic mode throughout because I still was not used to this camera). With kit lenses you often get rather shoddy things, but not on the Pentax K5. This modest 18-55 works smoothly. The body is well-designed and looks/feels not quite as clumsy as the Nikons and Canons. Before, I had an Olympus E620 which was not near as good of course, but its commands at the back were lit so that you had no problem taking pictures in the dark. I miss this on the Pentax, but it sure is no reason not to buy it. - The more I use it, the more I like it. So many years ago I started taking photos with a Pentax Spotmatic and now things have come full circle. By the way, there is a nice book by Peter Burian about the Pentax K7. It is reasonably cheap and makes a good addition to the booklet in the kit.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Until now I was a Pentax-Fan. But: Hands off from this camera. The first one I bought had a sensor defect (two large spots). I could give it back to the seller because I realized the defect within the deadline. The second I bought had what is called the "perl-chain-effect" in the internet forums, a serious sensor defect too. I sent it to the Pentax-repair-service and they told me that I have to wait alt least four weeks until I get it back. eddybox
