This lens is both optically and mechanically a beautiful piece of engineering. Search the web for more info. The sample in question was as described, but for the benefit of other buyers looking for Minolta MC Rokkor 21mm F2.8 lenses: All these lenses need servicing, even if it looks mint from the outside. Two major problems need addressing: The first is that all specimen of these lenses I have handled (incl. this purchase) suffer from varying degrees of oil migration onto and into the inner lens group (and some also on the aperture). This tends to be visible only under careful examination with a bright flashlight. The inner lens group generally needs disassembly (and cleaning) into its individual lens components (one of which is an interesting rare cemented triplet (not to be separated of course). If left untreated this will ultimately lead to haze and damaged coatings. The second problem is that Minolta glued a foam disc between the inner lens group and the inner barrel in which it is mounted (assumed to act as a dust filter for the air breathing in and out of the float space between the first and inner lens groups). After 40+ years this foam has disintegrated into a sticky goo on all samples I have come across. It looks like one of the components of this foam break-down is an acid, which etches the front surface of the first element of the inner lens group, which gets contaminated by the "crumble" of the disintegrating foam. This foam needs removal , and ideally replacement. Etching damage is again only visible under flashlight examination. It looks like a series of random short and long pitted scratches where the crumbling foam pieces have rolled and sagged across the lens surface. It looks decidedly different from fungal damage, but is often mistaken for it. When shooting directly against the light this will result in unusual flare patches. This problem also needs to be addressed before the etching damage occurs.Vollständige Rezension lesen
